HY3414 : Crannog - Loch of Wasdale

taken 11 years ago, near to Finstown, Mainland, Orkney Islands, Scotland

Crannog - Loch of Wasdale
Crannog - Loch of Wasdale
Little is known of this particular feature but a Crannog is a prehistoric 'island', usually man-made, in or on, a lake.
Shown on some OS maps with a dry passage, this island is no longer attached but, in very dry conditions, remnants of the causeway can be seen.
