Croagh Patrick pilgrimage
Croagh Patrick pilgrimage
A generation gap. An elderly pilgrim and her young companion - I would guess from the similarity of the features, especially round the mouth, possibly grandmother and grand-daughter - rest by the path on their way up to the 2507 ft high summit of Croagh Patrick during the annual pilgrimage on the last Sunday in July, known as Reek Sunday. It is a tough climb especially over the loose scree covering the last few hundred feet but, incredibly, the old lady made it to the top where I saw them later in the day.
