NS5566 : Meadow Road underpass

taken 11 years ago, near to Partick, Glasgow, Scotland

Meadow Road underpass
Meadow Road underpass
The underpass connects Partick to the Glasgow Harbour housing development. It is decorated with brightly coloured ceramic tiles which were designed by local primary school children in 2005.

Two of the tiled panels describe the story behind the project.

"Glasgow Harbour 2005
The improvements to this underpass were implemented as
part of the Glasgow harbour development, with the
express aim of linking the Partick and Glasgow
Harbour communities and providing better access to the
River Clyde waterfront.

This included a community arts project involving pupils
from local primary schools and local artist
Deborah Campbell LinkExternal link .

Primary 4 pupils help to design and produce the tile
panels displayed here, each of which shows their own
interpretation of the history of Partick and the River
Clyde, including well known landmark buildings, cranes
and ships.
