View over gulley which takes spring water to the sea
To the left of this picture is a fresh water spring, the water from which finds its way down the tree-lined gully to Polbathic, where it reaches the limit of the tidal estuary. You may find that folk used to build mills / houses / fords etc at this point of tide in all similar locations. Many such villages have their early roots in places like this. Beyond the gully, fields can be seen as per the map.
