Geograph - photograph every grid square

On 28 April 2013 the main entrance to New Street station, to the south of the tracks, was closed. This will allow work to proceed on completion of the new station. A new entrance on Stephenson Street leads to a new concourse, shown, with booking office, ticket machines, shops, escalators up to the Pallasades shopping mall and to a presumably parallel concourse for ticket-holders' access to platforms and trains. Whether this relatively low ceiling is permanent remains to be seen: all the publicity shows a light bright concourse open to the sky. Watch this space.
