Dundalk station
Dundalk station
Former Great Northern Railway (Ireland) station, now Irish Rail. It still retains most of its original architecture and is generally regarded as the finest station on the Belfast to Dublin line. It was designed c 1845 be Sir John Mcneill and opened in February 1849 and houses a small museum in one of the station buildings on the platform with an interesting display of historic railway photos and artefacts. The coaches in the background are old stock dating back to CIE days presumably awaiting scrapping or maybe even preservation.
