A view over Chatterton Village towards Holcombe Hill with the Peel Tower on the sky line. On 26th April 1826 rioting Luddites were read the Riot Act as they attempted to close the cotton mills. Four men were killed and many wounded.Much of the wooded hillside is owned by the National Trust, given in memory of Richard Porritt who was killed in the Second World War and whose family owned the mills in the village of Stubbins. To the left is Stubbins Paper mill
