River Liffey close to its source, Wicklow Mountains
The River Liffey high in its upper reaches, above the Liffey Head Bridge, in the peat hags in which it forms. There are no paths here, and the ground is boggy throughout, but with proper footwear, it is passable. The river is fast-moving, flowing down towards the Military Road, after which it will turn on the slopes of Kippure.
