Lynch headstone, Holywood (1)
A headstone marking the graves of various members of the Lynch family. It reads “Erected by Thomas Lynch in memory of his wife Elizabeth who died 5th Jany 1893 also his daughter Mary Evelyn who died 22nd Decr 1915 Also the above named Thomas Lynch who entered into rest 25 Feb 1936 “A good man leaveth an inheritance” “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace” Also his wife EJN Lynch, nee Torney, who departed this life 7th Octr 1936. “Now, with triumphal palms, they stand before the throne on high”. The Priory church and graveyard, Holywood
The Priory stands at the Bangor end of High Street surrounded by modern development. It was built as a parish church in about 1200. It later became a Franciscan friary, reverting to the status of a parish church after restoration in 1615. It became disused in the middle of the 19th century when replaced by a new parish church.
