Devils Bit Scabious, Kingcombe Meadows
The peak time for the wild flower meadows at Kingcombe has to be late May and early June when the fields are a mass of yellows and pinks but in late August after an apparent lackluster July, there is a final blaze of colour when the fields are full of Devils Bit Scabious. The plant is important in the conservation of the Marsh Fritillary butterfly as the eggs are laid on the plant.
