Concra near Castleblayney
This view is from the top of a 150 metre high drumlin, looking east down to a green on the Concra Wood golf course with Lough Muckno beyond. Concra is a 21st century course, first established in 2008 on 240 acres of woodland owned by Coillte. It is surrounded on three sides by the waters of this beautiful Lough with Castleblayney at its northern end. On the course, designed initially by the Christy O’Connor family, which is still being developed, there are two ruins. One is of an old folly which lies beside the 8th tee, and the other a Grecian-style temple which in Lord Blayney’s day was used as a picnic retreat. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
