"The Front" site, Holywood

“The Front”, announced in 2007/08, was to have been a mixed use development between the Shore Road (background, opposite here J3979 : "The Shore Side" apartments, Holywood) and the bypass. The scheme’s brochure included this description “This outstanding development will confirm Holywood as one of Northern Ireland’s most vibrant and stylish shopping destinations with over 100,000 sq ft of retail, office and living space in the heart of a uniquely cosmopolitan town”. In common with many such developments it did not start. The site is currently a pay and display car park.

A vacant site, beside the bypass, which has the following planning permission (4 January 2016) “LA06/2015/0074/F Development of 18 No. Apartments above 500sqm Retail Unit and private parking Vacant Land at Marine Parade/Shore Road junction Holywood”.
