Magazine Gateway
Magazine Gateway
A Grade I Listed building in Leicester, built in c.1410 as a gate into the Newarke enclosure of Leicester Castle. It acquired its present name during the English Civil War when it was used for the storage of munitions.
The gateway had until recently stood in the middle of Oxford Street, between four lanes of traffic. Oxford Street was rerouted and the Magazine Gateway is now more accessible, next to De Montfort University's Campus.
