Location is east of R480 and north of the Poulnabrone Dolmen parking area. This megalithic portal tomb dates back to about 3500 BC. It is the most outstanding of Ireland's many dolmens (impressive stone monuments erected over the graves of the dead). Excavations here in the 1980s revealed that at least 22 adults and children were buried here, along with some personal effects, such as a polished stone axe, a bone pendant, quartz crystals, weapons & pottery.
