Boulders were imported from Norway and placed in front of the cliff face > Link in an attempt to control the erosion, but it continues, with its latest victim being the last remaining house at the end of Beach Road, which was so badly undermined by the recent storm surge on 5 December 2013, said to have been the worst in 60 years, that it is barely hanging on. The chalet was demolished on 12 December 2013, two days after this picture was taken.
