Bunratty - 15th Century Bunratty Castle
Location is along the north side of L3126 at the west end of the L3126 Bridge over the Owengarney River. View is to the northeast from the road off L3126 into the Bunratty Village Mills Shops area. This castle was built in 1425. It was restored in 1954 and is open to visitors who visit Bunratty Folk Park. The main rectangular block in the middle consists of three floors. At each corner of the rectangular block is a six-storey tower. The 26 acre Folk Park also includes 30 19th century structures (mostly thatched stone cottages) in rural settings and shops in a village setting. The castle is closed at 4PM to prepare for a Medieval Banquest that takes place in the castle.
