taken 10 years ago, near to Dundonald, Co Down, Northern Ireland

Source of the Knock River Belfast
Source of the Knock River Belfast
The stream of water, sourcing the Knock River, approx 50m north of the Stormont Demesne boundary.

The 1830 Townland Survey of County Down, Ireland, indicates the source of the Knock River, to be a field, on the far side of the road, about 20m down from the upper junction of the Belmont Road and the Ballymiscaw Road. The water is then transported via culverts under the Ballymiscaw Road, Belmont Road, the front of Killeen House and then overland between a row of trees down to the Stormont Demesne. In set of photographs, submitted today 16th December 2013, I demonstrate that this headwater of the Knock River is still flowing.
