Flooded path, Holywood (2)
14.36 - this part of the North Down coastal path has holes in the seawall to allow surplus rainwater to drain into Belfast Lough. Today, with the tide exceptionally high, the seawater was coming in to flood the path.
High tide and flood alert, Holywood (6 January 2014)

Some photographs taken at The Esplanade, Holywood, in the period before high water (14.58), Belfast Lough. This was the fourth successive exceptionally high tide since 3 January where flooding had been predicted. In the event, although there been flooding on previous days, today’s slightly lower tide, which was not backed by a strong wind, did not affect neighbouring houses.
