River Lagan, Governor's Bridge, Belfast
The Lagan, looking downstream at the Governor’s Bridge. This seemed to be one of the days when the level within the impounded area, had been allowed to vary, according to the tide, to facilitate the repair works on the revetments.
River Lagan works, Belfast 2013/14
A scheme, on the Lagan between the Ormeau and Governor’s Bridge involving repairs to the revetments. River Notice 25/13 records “repairs to the riverbank’s stone pitched revetments between October [2013] and March [2014] . . . . . This repair work is essential to ensure that the banks are protected from erosion and the aesthetic quality of the river corridor maintained”. For photographs of a similar scheme in 2009/10 see J3371 : Crane and barge, Stranmillis, Belfast.
