The plaque reads "This anvil and the Norwegian Spruce tree planted nearby were placed here by the Parish Council and the Borley family in memory of Jim Borley (1900-1991) who was the village blacksmith also chorister for 75 years and churchwarden for 33 years" The name lives on in Borley Brothers Engineering, whose works are on both sides of the road here.
