SU8560 : Queen Victoria at Sandhurst

taken 14 years ago, near to Blackwater, Hampshire, England

Queen Victoria at Sandhurst
Queen Victoria at Sandhurst
The statue of the great Queen faces the main entrance of Old College, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, as if she was reviewing a parade. The stretch of tarmac, about 160 yards long, between her and the parade ground is known as the King’s Walk, and is reserved for the limousines of monarchs and others who come to take the Sovereign’s Parade. This marks the completion of the cadets’ training after which they join their respective regiments as commissioned Army officers. About 80% have degrees and some 10% come from foreign Armies, says Google.
