Moon-lit flooding in Hensting Lane
This is the view across the crossroads on Hensting Lane, from the bottom of Mare Lane towards the bottom end of the lane down Whites Hill. The whole width of Hensting Lane is submerged ankle-deep in water, which is flowing from left to right in this photo. Downhill from here the road in the valley bottom is submerged for 2km to the sharp bend at Hensting Farm where the water spills into fields and continues on towards Fishers Pond. The road is also submerged uphill from here, with water running off the adjacent slopes after heavy rain has fallen on saturated soil. There is a similar situation in the normally 'dry' valley to the north as well, although Hazeley Road in that valley is not completely submerged as it is not entirely in the valley bottom. Light source in this photograph is the Moon to the south-east, one day past full moon.
