The three tall concrete chimneys of the old oil-fired Ballylumford power station are the dominant man-made feature of the northern part of Islandmagee. Officially described by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency as comprising “a series of ridges which run north-south, culminating at sheer basalt cliffs along the eastern coastline.” Irrespective of the technical jargon Islandmagee has pleasant scenery.
