TQ3581 : Stepney Green, mansion house

taken 11 years ago, near to Stepney, Tower Hamlets, England

Stepney Green, mansion house.
Stepney Green, mansion house.
A hooded entrance door features a scallop shell moulding with a cherub head in the centre. Stepney Green is a linear park with a mansion house built 1694, an example of several that were built as the area was a leafy suburb adjacent to Mile End. Mile End formerly marked a mile distance from the city gates, though latterly has moved with expansion to Burdett Road and Grove Road.
