Homage to Hokusai, Coldharbour Place, Camberwell
On the rear wall of a property in Denmark Hill is this playful rendering of Hokusai's famous print 'The Great Wave'. The Japanese artist Hokusai lived from 1760-1849 and produced over 30,000 works. 'The Great Wave', reversed here, comes from the series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji', c.1830-35. In the top right-hand corner of the building are some credits for the work, including Dulux paint.
Coldharbour Place is a cul-de-sac and passage between Denmark Hill and Coldharbour Lane.
