SP7426 : Disused Metropolitan Railway

taken 10 years ago, near to East Claydon, Buckinghamshire, England

Disused Metropolitan Railway
Disused Metropolitan Railway
Originally this was the Metropolitan Railway heading towards Verney Junction where it joined the Varsity Line. In the opposite direction trains travelled through Quainton to Baker Street (London). Passenger services ceased in 1936 and the tracks were lifted in 1961. Behind the photographer would have been a level crossing and beyond Winslow Road Station. A few traces of the station remain, although the adjacent East Claydon electrical sub station dominates the local views. More details LinkExternal link
