Borders Railway construction works in Galashiels

This view of ongoing construction work was taken from a footbridge at Low Buckholmside. For a view of the bridge, see NT4836 : Footbridge in Galashiels over the former Waverley railway line. I have fond memories of standing on this bridge as a young boy in the 1950s and being engulfed in smoke from a steam engine as it pulled up the gradient from Galashiels Station heading for Edinburgh on the former Waverley Line. I shall be able to watch trains from this bridge once more when the Borders Railway Line opens in 2015 but without the smoke.
