HY3304 : Earl's Bu', Orphir

taken 18 years ago, near to Crya, Mainland, Orkney Islands, Scotland

Earl's Bu', Orphir
Earl's Bu', Orphir
The remains of the drinking-hall ('booth' or 'bu') of the Viking Earl Paul of Orkney. It was here, one Christmas, that Svein Asleifarson slew Svein 'Breast-Rope', as recorded in the Orkneyinga Saga, at the entrance of the Bu - just where we are standing.
