A Comma butterfly rests in the sunny and windless shelter of thick foliage on both sides of the towpath LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . Other species on the wing in a half mile stretch of the Canal on the 1st July: Ringlet, Small Skipper, Gatekeeper, Red Admiral, Meadow Brown, Small Tortoiseshell, Large White.
