In terms of height and shape, Windsor House sits none too harmoniously with its lower neighbours – especially the City Hall which, from certain angles, it tends to overwhelm. Whatever plans there are for the future development of the site it might be worth remembering the long saga of the Central Bank’s headquarters in Dame Street, Dublin LinkExternal link. This view is from beside Cleavers, Donegall Square North.
Windsor House, Belfast

Windsor House, Bedford Street, a product of the mid-seventies is the tallest office building in Belfast.

Belfast City Hall

Belfast City Hall was built in 1896/1906, by H&J Martin LinkExternal link to a design by Brumwell Thomas. It replaced the White Linen Hall (1785-1896) LinkExternal link (“white” refers to the colour of the linen rather than the building) on the same site in the middle of Donegall Square. Apart from its architectural merits and being the seat of the City Council it tends to be the place from where directions are given.
