Lissadell House, Sligo (1)
Lissadell House, Sligo (1)
The first view of the house from the northeast. This Greek Revival mansion overlooking Drumcliff Bay was home to the Gore Booth family and one of poet W. B. Yeats' most treasured haunts at the height of his creative powers. Newly re-opened to the public after a six-year long legal battle with Sligo County Council over public rights of way through the estate, this is a wonderful attraction not to be missed by any visitor to this part of Ireland. I won't duplicate what has already been written about Lissadell, as there is already a very fine description here by Geograph contributor D. Gore (St John): G6244 : Lissadell and the ‘dead cat case’ – the history of a troubled estate The Lissadell House website is also recommended: LinkExternal link
