The Whitings, Glenarm
The Whitings, Glenarm
The Whitings stand alongside the coast road on the Larne side of Glenarm. Whiting is a finely powdered product produced by milling and classifying limestone (generally, but not always, chalk). This is the disused whiting plant at Glenarm. Larne Council had advertised for tenders for its demolition as part of a local environmental improvement scheme only to find that the structure had been listed by the DoE.
