Great Rock mine
One of a number of levels in the substantial workings of Great Rock mine.
Micaceous haematite was produced for the local market at Plymouth dockyard where it was used as an ingredient in rust resistant paint for warships. Great Rock mine was closed in 1969, making it the last active underground mine on Dartmoor.
