This view is from the White Nothe headland. In the foreground is the face of the Cretaceous Upper Chalk. The first slight dip in the coast is West Bottom, followed by the deep dip of Middle Bottom, both cut in the Ice Ages by rivers from the seasonal melting of the permafrost to the north. After that, Bats Head sticks out into the sea with its small arch. The next feature along the coast, tucked behind Bats Head, is Durdle Door - the top of the arch can just be seen.
