The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage rated the building as of Regional Importance in 2008 as a good example of a thatched vernacular house that has been adapted for modern use. Built around 1820 it appears on the 1837 OS map as part of a clachan (a small village or hamlet) giving an insight to the historic settlement pattern and the social, economic and cultural life of the area.
