Common Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra)
Common Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra)
Coming down to a small pond by the track from Mayday Farm. March 2003 was very dry so this became a valuable source of water for birds, especially seed-eating species as they need to drink frequently due to their dry food. See TL7882 : Drinking pool, Mayday Farm for a photo of the pond and the tree this bird was in.
