taken 9 years ago, near to Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England

Gull with dead Little auk
Gull with dead Little auk
The gull tried its best to swallow the dead bird whole, without success. It then tried to rip into the flesh, again without success. Eventually it gave up and left it on the mud by the slipway in the old harbour.
