SC2779 : Waterfall Halt

taken 10 years ago, near to Lower Foxdale, Isle of Man

Waterfall Halt
Waterfall Halt
Footbridge over the stream just to the south of the site of Waterfall Halt, on the St John's to Foxdale branch. Although the halt was called "Waterfall" its main reason for existence was to serve the village of Lower Foxdale, to save the villagers there having to walk uphill to Foxdale station. As was frequently found on the Isle of Man, no platform was provided but there was a waiting shelter. No traces of the shelter exist today and, indeed, were it not for the fact that there was a road overbridge just before the site of Waterfall Halt that is still there, it would be easy to walk straight past the station site without realising that one ever existed.
