Paddle steamer "PS Monarch" was previously the Southern Railway's "Shanklin", plying the route across to the Isle of Wight. She is seen here at Swanage having brought summer holidaymakers from either Poole or Bournemouth (or both) for a trip out on the sea. Sadly 1960 was the last year that the company "Cosens" based two paddle steamers at Bournemouth and PS Monarch was sent to Cork for scrap at the end of the season.
