The Edentubber Martyrs ' Memorial
The Edentubber Martyrs ' Memorial
This memorial, a few yards in on the Republic of Ireland side of the border, commemorates five Republicans who were killed during the 1956-62 IRA Border Campaign when a land mine they had intended to use that day in Newry blew up prematurely. The five were Michael Watters of Edentubber; Paul Smith of Bessbrook; Oliver Craven of Newry; and Patrick Parle and George Keegan of Wexford.
