Fewston reservoir was built in the 1870's by Leeds Corporation to supply water to Leeds and environs. It is one of 4 reservoirs in the Washburn Valley, Fewston, Swinstey and Lindley were all built in the late 1800's and Thruscross, the furthest upstream was built in the 1960's.
