For many years, the recommended route to reach the Scourie Hotel beat known as Mid Chain was by Loch nan Uidh, a rather tortuous route at the best of times as noted in NC1842 : Loch Eilean Meall Chaorainn. A more straightforward way is to make use of the peat track usually used to access a beat called "Peter's". From the end of this track the Mid Chain loch NC1842 : Loch nan Rodhaich can be clearly seen across the other side of the valley as this Supplemental image shows. The peat track provides a quick walk in and there's even a stile of sorts to get you over the fence between the peat track and Mid Chain.
