Conjuror's Tower [1]
About 1855, Captain Mark Kerr R.N. succeeded his brother to become Earl of Antrim. A seasoned naval officer who had seen action in several wars, he was by all accounts quite a character and he always dressed in top hat and top boots. This tower had been built in the 1820s as part of a romantic redesign of the castle and, always the seaman, it was his habit to sit atop it scanning the ocean through his telescope. After his death he became affectionately known as 'The Conjuror'.
