Castles of Munster: Norrisland, Waterford (1)
This very overgrown ruined stronghouse was owned in 1641 by William Greatrix (or Greatrakes), who had built the castle shortly before 1600 after his marriage, on land acquired from his father-in-law. His grandson Valentine Greatrix was born in the castle in 1628. There remain parts of three small wings with corner turrets, that at the SW being the most complete.
