Kiltimon Castle
Kiltimon Castle
Seen from the R772 road, the castle has been the subject of some controversy as to whether it was a ruined castle or a folly.
Buildings of Ireland says "Detached three-bay three-storey former castle c.1550, now in use as a folly. The building is set within a circular walled garden close to the roadside. It was restored as a folly c.1800. Follies invariably aped older structures, ironically this is in fact what it pretends to be, i.e. a castle ruin." See LinkExternal link
