The two cupolas on the southern side of Belfast City Hall viewed from Howard Street (west of Brunswick Street). The building on the left is the head office of the Northern Bank (trading as Danske Bank) seen under construction in 1974 J3373 : Howard Street, Belfast (1974).
Belfast City Hall
Belfast City Hall was built in 1896/1906, by H&J Martin LinkExternal link to a design by Brumwell Thomas. It replaced the White Linen Hall (1785-1896) LinkExternal link (“white” refers to the colour of the linen rather than the building) on the same site in the middle of Donegall Square. Apart from its architectural merits and being the seat of the City Council it tends to be the place from where directions are given.
