Progress on the Uppat Hydro Scheme August 2015
View down the Allt a' Chairn (watercourse) in Sutherland. Construction of the Uppat Hydro Scheme is in progress. The works on the left of the photo are for the intake structure, at an altitude of about 165 m (541 ft). The watercourse at this point has a catchment of around 5 km.sq. The line of the proposed pipe can be seen along the hill side. The proposed outlet is 1.3km (0.8 miles) down the valley, about 100m lower than the inlet. The scheme is planned to carry 125 litres per second of water and generate 96kW of power.
