Ducks on the 41.8 kilometre shoreline of the largest man-made lake in western Europe. I'm not sure if this is a natural shoreline created by erosion or whether this was deposited to create a beach.
Completed in 1977, the reservoir covers 3,100 acres, has a storage capacity of 124,000 million litres (27,000 million gallons). It provides water for domestic and industrial consumption, and is also used for recreational purposes such as boating and fishing.
The dam is 1,200 metres long, and the maximum depth is 34 metres. A walk around the shoreline is about 41.8 kilometres.
Normanton village lies beneath the water.
