Stone Wall
This stone wall is sadly in need of repair; unfortunately very few farmers are prepared to spend the time and money to carry out the work. Which explains the fence in front of the wall, they are quicker to install, but do not have the lifespan or the beauty of the Dry stone wall. Is it time for the government to provide funding for the training of people to Repair & Rebuild dry stone walls, in addition they should also make it more attractive to farmers to build / repair dry stone walls through the conservation grants before these skills are lost. They have done it with hedge planting, which is currently prevalent in many rural areas, so why not do the same for the dry stone wall, which provides a habitat for small mammals and insects as well as shelter for larger animals (not much shelter from a wire fence).
