The ridge has frequent clumps of the Nationally Scarce Shrubby Sea-blite (Suaeda vera) growing along it. The ridge provides sheltered conditions which has allowed saltmarsh to develop behind it. This location forms part of the extensive Blackwater Estuary SSSI. LinkExternal link
